We need one another

The quality of our relationships has a profound influence on our physical health, mental health, longevity, and wellbeing.

As humans we have evolved to regulate, connect, and survive within relationships, not apart from them. Our cooperation with and dependence on others has always been essential for survival, and we aren’t meant to manage our physical or emotional pain alone.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed and needing support, this does not make you weak. It makes you human.

Perhaps my greatest honor as a therapist is connecting with those who come through my door, and maybe even more so, helping them connect with others. Helping parents and kids connect and co-regulate, helping couples truly see one another–it’s a beautiful process to be a part of. The knowledge that this benefit extends so far outside of our counseling room inspires me each day.
